About HOPE

HOPE is an organic gardening charitable trust on the east coast of Scotland.

Our objectives are to:

  • Offer horticultural training and work experience for adults living in Angus with learning disabilities
  • Provide opportunities for social, educational and recreational activities for our trainees
  • Supply the local community with organically grown fruit and vegetables

HOPE was set up in 1994 by Cedric de Voil, a local GP, who saw the benefits of gardening for people with disabilities.

HOPE continues to welcome trainees every year offering individuals support and mentoring. All our trainees live in the local Angus area.

Working in our garden has many mental and physical benefits and improves the skills of our trainees:

  • Building self-confidence
  • Encouraging creativity
  • Improving motor skills
  • Helping to reduce stress levels
  • Developing better co-ordination
  • Increasing fitness and ability

Being part of HOPE brings many social benefits to trainees and their families.
