We are a small charity and annual numbers are limited but we will consider anybody with learning disabilities who is over 18 and lives in the Angus area — Montrose, Arbroath, Forfar, Brechin, Carnoustie and Monifieth.
HOPE activities include all aspects of growing fruit and vegetables organically, from sowing to harvesting and selling to the community. Our trainees enjoy working in a safe environment supported by staff and volunteers and, circumstances permitting, they attend the garden for a weekly session where they work either individually or in small groups. Some trainees have their own personal garden area.
We provide a structured gardening programme at the appropriate level for each trainee’s abilities. This helps people develop their self-esteem, confidence and skills, which has a very positive effect on wellbeing.
Trainees receive an assessment at the end of each year and are awarded a HOPE Certificate of Achievement.
